Sharon Guan, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Child, Adolescent & Adult Psychotherapy

I am a Licensed Clinician Social Worker who received my Master’s Degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago.  I’m passionate about helping children, teens, adults, and their families and pull from a variety of therapy approaches to fit the needs and goals of the client, including, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Psychoanalytic Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy.

My specialties include anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, PTSD, sexual/gender identity, and working with members of the BIPOC and queer communities.  I have experience working in community-based treatment center, as well as additional training and certification in domestic violence advocacy and intervention.  I approach therapy from a trauma-informed care perspective and understand that past experiences can deeply impact your mental health.  Whether it’s processing past trauma, managing anxiety, or working through life stressors, I’m here to assist my clients and also celebrate what makes them unique.

In addition to traditional therapy methods, I also incorporate art therapy and play therapy into sessions. I truly believe that art is an expression of oneself—whether it's through drawing, painting, or other creative processes, art allows one to explore emotions and experiences that may be difficult to express with words. Through play, whether it’s role-playing, interactive games, or other activities, we can create space to explore feelings and gain a better understanding of oneself.

Outside of the therapeutic space, she could be found with her two small dogs, Ripley and Tofu. She also enjoys playing video games, watching movies, creating art, and enjoying the outdoors.
